Your Welcome Tray, Your Life Saviour.

First impression wins all the time.

My first Airbnb (or HomeAway) experience was way back in 2013 when I backpacked Europe for one whole month. 90% of the time, we stayed in Airbnb. It was overall a good experience considering we paid very little and got to stay in a complete house with kitchen, a proper toilet (not shared like in the hostels) and the entire place just to ourselves.

I can't remember much now of each of the house that we stayed in. They are now a bit 'samar-samar' in my mind. However, the one thing that I remember very clearly was their welcome tray. Very generously-filled welcome tray, unlike those you find in the hotel.

Not just tea and coffee, they were filled with pretty much, a breakfast spread. There were a lot of breads (wholemeal, white, soft buns) and jams you can think of (apricots, butter, marmalade). You can also find cereals and different types of cheeses to go with the bread selections earlier.

Why a life saviour? Well, as a host, your reviews are your life. The guests will feel loved the moment they stepped into your house when greeted with a very special welcome tray - and whatever faults that your house might have later on, they surely will think about your earlier gesture and will perhaps have a little bit of an understanding. So if your guests are those who check on your unironed cadar, they might let it go because of your welcome tray.

Some tips:

It doesn't have to be food, you may surprise your guests with a little something that is locally made (for example: batik card, batu seremban (and instructions on how to play with it, and perhaps a tea cloth)

You can also have a handwritten welcome note, with your guests name on it, so it is much more personalized and special.

To know more about Welcome Trays, or if you want us to help you design your Welcome Trays, just email/WhatsApp us. We don't eat people, we only eat whatever served on the welcome trays :D

Love,

Ellina
